Update on Fire Station 1 Renovations

The renovations to Fire Station 51 are about 90% complete. We are projecting returning apparatus and crews to the Station by the first week of May, possibly sooner.

The crew and administrative areas of the building and apparatus bay construction are essentially complete with all HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical systems fully operational.  The double doors for the patio have been installed, and locks are being installed on all exterior doors on Wednesday to prevent casual access.

Third party inspections of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC were conducted on April 6th, 2026. The electrical passed completely, plumbing passed except for several minor items needing attention. The HVAC systems also had several minor items to address. Both will be corrected by later this week. The new Fire Alarm and Propane Systems have been tested and successfully passed.

A walk-through inspection by City inspectors is scheduled for Thursday. We expect to receive a Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Sunrise Beach not later than April 10th

Punchlist work on building, touch up work, furniture, and finishing out the fire station will continue through late April.

A permit has been issued for the parking lot and driveway construction. Flatwork, including drainage improvements for the concrete driveways, aprons, and the asphalting of parking lots began on April 6 and should be finished by end of April.

It has been a long six months since the ESD assumed project management of the station renovation in November 2025, but the end is in sight!
