Parking Lot Erosion Control
Over the last several weeks two erosion control projects for the East Parking Lot and South Driveway have been completed.
The first project was the installation of riprap in areas of high-water flow from the new parking lot and driveway. The riprap stabilizes the new cut and fill slope of the parking lot and reduces water flow velocities. Riprap was also installed along the edges of South Driveway. As a third part of the project, with a skid steer loader available, granite gravel was installed near the water tank and other areas as part of the overall landscaping plan.
The second project was as a result of a donation of Hydromulching on either side of South Driveway. Hydromulching sprays seed, mulch, and nutrients to quickly stabilize bare soil and promote grass growth. Hydromulching prevents erosion, protects seeds from weather, retains soil moisture, and promotes uniform grass coverage. Once applied, on duty crews watered the treated areas several times daily per the contractor’s instructions to ensure germination and coverage of the treated areas. See photos below:
