Sunrise Beach Fire Department / Llano County ESD #5 received a $25,000 Apparatus and Equipment grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service on December 5th, 2025. The grant is a 95% / 5% grant match, with the ESD paying the 5% match from funds already designated in the FY26 budget for communications. The grant will be used to purchase multi-band mobile radios for our brush trucks. This will allow these unit to communicate with Fire Departments from adjacent counties during regional mutual aid responses, such as the Crabapple Fire in Willow City, Gillespie County or the July 4^th Flood Response.
