Join Us for the Official Push-In of Rescue 51!

The Sunrise Beach Fire Department and Llano County Emergency Services District #5 are thrilled to announce the ceremonial "pushing in" of our newest addition, Rescue 51, on Saturday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. The public is warmly invited to Sunrise Beach Fire Station #2 at 705 Circle Drive for the ceremony. This marks its official entry into service!

Rescue 51 is a fully refurbished 2011 Pierce Velocity Rescue Pumper, acquired from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus in Alabama. Originally built for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, it's been upgraded with a brand-new engine, transmission, fire pump, and suspension—delivering top performance at a fraction of the cost of a new rig (which can exceed $1 million!).

Beyond firefighting, it's geared for all-hazards response, including vehicle extrications and emergency medical care. Onboard tools include the Hurst Jaws of Life rescue tool, an AED, and a LUCAS device for automated, hands-free CPR.

In a heartfelt handover, our faithful Engine 259—a 1986 Pierce Arrow with 3,000-gallon capacity and space for four crew—has been donated to Rochelle VFD through the Texas Forest Service’s Helping Hands Program. Chief Michael Jordan and his dedicated volunteers will be here to drive her to her new home, supporting Rochelle's vital infrastructure, including a local school.

Come celebrate with us, see you there!
